About The Economic View

The Economic View is a blog that aims to do just that; provide the 'economic view' on current events, analysing topical issues with the economist's toolkit.  The Economic View hopes to cut through the political noise, and provide a rational and accessible commentary on current affairs.  The Economic View will discuss broader, non-topical subjects of interest as well.

What makes the Economic View different?  Why should you read this blog?  In a nutshell, you should read the Economic View for impartial, accessible and economics-focused analysis and commentary on current affairs.

What does the Economic View aim to do?  Firstly, the Economic view aims to analyse the world and world events through an economics lens, even when the topic at hand may not immediately seem economic in nature.  Secondly, while this blog provides an economic-perspective, it aims to do so in an accessible manner.  Some economics blogs can become overly technical and academic.  The Economic View hopes to be substantive, but understandable to the educated reader.  No economics degree or formal economics qualifications are required to read and enjoy this blog.  Lastly, the Economic View aims to be impartial and unbiased, cutting through the political noise that accompanies many blogs and magazines.  If the Economic View deems a particular policy or idea to be of economic substance, it will say so, no matter the politics.  That is what we aim to do, and why you should read the Economic View.
